“suffer-ass” ahah
I was asked recently … as an “established” tattooer… if I thought an apprenticeship was still a worthwhile endeavor for an aspiring artist……. my answer:
“starting to tattoo without an apprenticeship is like building rockets without studying physics. sure…. it might take off… but you’re probably not going to go very far, or hit your mark, and you’re likely to destroy enough shit to piss off everyone around you.
true, I come from a traditional art background, but I owe my success in tattooing, AS WELL AS IN ART, to my solid and lengthy apprenticeship. I owe my mentor everything. I’d be nothing without it, or him. “
we DO NOT need any more tattooers that don’t know the fundamentals. let alone ones that haven’t learned to respect what it is that we do. if you don’t want to do this the right way, don’t. fucking. bother.
